I’m Elliott Asbury.

I have a weird story—no doubt about it. But it’s good weird. I am an industry veteran who chucked it all in in 2018 and moved with my wife to India for her two-year work assignment. The mid-career retirement was great. I built a blog for expats. I published photo essays. I helped small businesses brand and volunteered with an organization empowering disadvantaged women. And then it was time to come home. Since 2020, I have been on an in-house creative team at Westerra Credit Union, led by CP+B and Grenadier veterans, tackling the most interesting project of all: bringing a legendary local credit union into the 21st century, and gearing up to go head-to-head with the biggest fintechs out there.  

 
 
 

EXPERIENCE

Westerra Credit Union

Associate Creative Director

June 2022 - Present | Denver, CO

  • Helping to creative direct and manage creative strategy, design, production, and rollout of rebrand for Westerra Credit Union, including identity, color, website, mobile banking app, retail design, signage and apparel/swag. 

  • Oversee a team of seven designers, art directors, and writers, both internal and freelance,
    within an agile framework.

  • Leading CX design and implementation on special assignment for revamped online banking platform. This project is the current top-level organizational priority.

  • Leading creative direction and production of documentary film series delivering on
    talent acquisition and retention strategies.

  • Manage and support several outside partnerships, including serving as creative liaison with AOR.

  • Implementing digital asset management and organization-wide content creation solution to maintain brand standards, manage licensing, and facilitate content distribution.

  • Conceived, developed, provided copywriting support, and produced multiple product campaigns, including several with 500x+ ROI. Involved in brand strategy and consumer trend research, as well as creative.

  • Regularly produce long-form multimedia content, including video, photography, illustration, and written features.

  • Built loyal niche following, with 5,000 visits in the past 12 months, and recognized in local expat community as a go-to resource.

  • Contracted on several brand boot camp projects, including logo development, brand ID, and naming exercises for small businesses across sectors, including marketing agencies and non-profit organizations.

  • Led creative on the University of Colorado’s $3MM/yr award-winning multimedia brand campaign, including development of concept through execution of national TV, OLV, OOH, interactive, and print. Campaign exceeded awareness objectives and led to 89% positive brand perception among Colorado adults with recall.

  • Led several website design projects, including the18.com and the University of Colorado (CU.edu). 

  • Five years of experience with Instagram, Vine, Facebook and LinkedIn initiatives for clients such as Bacardi Mixers, Odwalla, and the University of Colorado, consistently achieving high consumer engagement. 

  • Retail and POP graphic design and creative experience for clients including Mello Yello and Odwalla.

  • Led and developed award-winning women’s empowerment and soccer campaign for the18.com. 

CP+B

Production Artist

May 2007 – October 2013 | Boulder, CO & Miami, FL

  • Responsible for making publish-ready various print and digital production projects, working closely with ECDs, CDs, and ADs.

  • Noted for strong attention to detail, strong eye, and efficient work under pressure.

  • Responsibilities included Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8 launch as well as the Xbox One launch.

  • Started CP+B as a media planner. Responsible for local TV, Radio, Digital, and OOH planning for Burger King’s West Coast markets.
